Spookiest Stories

One of our school library books is called: ''Spookiest Stories'' by Paul Jenning. You should read the chapter called 'The Copy' because it is about an old man who makes an invention which can copy and reverse things they copied. One day the boy was fighting a boy named Tick. So the boy made a copy of himself. Everything the boy does the copy does the same. The next day the copy and the boy went near the invention and the boy pushed the copy into the invention and pushed reverse. When the boy went home his mum asked him to write something. Then his mum said "Why are you writing with your left hand you mostly write with your right". The boy looked in the mirror and said "Oh no i'm the copy!" So I recommend you to read this book it is spine tingling.(Dont read it at night I had scary dreams too!!).

Jungle Fever

The library has been overtaken by jungle fever!!

Everyone is using KIDPIX to create jungle habitats. It's cool, because we can add backgrounds, stamps, stickers, animations and sounds. Check it out on the computers at lunchtime.

Here are some of the jungle pictures created by Junior kids . . .

Kapahaka

Question-What inspired you to teach the kapa haka group?

Miss Lepou: "It was Miss Mulrennan's brilliant idea and we think
that it's good for children to learn Maori culture."

Miss Mulrennan: "I think that it is important for children to learn other cultures. I know the children here are very talented so I knew we would have a good group which we have."

Mrs Des Forge: " I have always liked kapa haka. Children here have lovely voices - I taught class A4 the 'Te iwi e' song and I thought how great it would be to have a school Maori group."

Miss Pokai: "I really only turned up to a practise one day being nosey. I enjoyed listening to the children sing the waiata and offered to help with the boys. I feel kapa haka gives a school a sense of belonging and the children manners. "

Albany tornado

The Albany tornado caused lots of destruction to the area. There were lots of people injured and two dead. The Westfield shopping mall was nearly destroyed. The place is being rebuilt. A little 3 month old baby was in the car with the seatbelt on. The tornado struck and took the car swooping in the air. When the tornado passed they found the baby in the car, they found him scratchless. It was a miracle. Lots of people were running around like crazy. There was a piano that was taken, 110 km in the air. When they found the piano it was in a corn field all broken up. The cornfield was a mess. We hope this doesn't happen again.
