This month in New Zealand it is Matariki. During Matariki some people see the 7 sisters. Matariki is celebrated because of Maori New Year. Traditionally it was to remember the dead, and to celebrate new life. In the 21st century, observing it has become popular again. There are lots of celebrations happening all around the country.
