Cool School Pets

Rhino is a little blue budgie who is very tweetitive and is very playful. Mrs. Compston saved Rhino from being squashed by a huge truck!

Toby is a cat that loves to play in the library and hang out with his best friend Poppy. He loves the blue library beanbag.

Poppy is a fraidy cat that only sleeps, eats and sometimes runs about but she doesn't that often. She mostly hangs about in the office.

POPPY and TOBY on Holiday!!

Just before Christmas we found ourselves put into our carry boxes and then into the car and whisked away for our Summer Holiday while the school was closed. This time our human companion told us it was to a new holiday home for a few weeks out in the beautiful rural countryside.
It was all new to us but once we arrived we were happy to see other cats enjoying themselves with plenty of room to run and play and lots to see and do. We had a lovely sunny outdoor area with sheep and birds right outside the patio area. There was even a water fountain for us to drink from.

The nice lady in the cattery gave us a double room to share with blankets and a tent house for snuggling in. Once we had our breakfast each morning she would open our door and we could have playtime with all the other cats. We had nice biscuits and meat for dinner at night which meant that we came back to school a little fatter than we were.
It was so quiet and we were happy that our humans had chosen this cattery without dogs for us to spend a lazy summer break.
Thank you for fundraising and collecting the money to send us to a lovely place for the Christmas holidays. We had fun and have now returned, safe and sound, back to school for the start of the new year.
Toby and Poppy xx

Toby the Library Cat ! ! !

Toby is a cat who comes to the library all the time. Did you know... Toby was on top of the T.V where Mrs. Clark shows us topics to do? Have you seen Toby in the returns box? Day by day Toby is getting smarter and smarter. Toby comes to the library and likes to run around. Toby the library cat has been to the library more that the students at this school. Did you seen Toby on the printer, playing games on the computer and climbing walls? It looked like a lot of fun.

Fat cat Poppy!!!

Poppy is a fat cat. She needs to lose weight. Mrs Compston is trying to give less food to Poppy. Poppy has a great big tummy. Before she used to eat a lot of food but now she only has one or two things to eat. Have you seen Poppy's great big tummy?

All the children are trying to help Poppy because she is getting fatter and fatter. Poppy gets less food than Toby. Mrs Compston and Mr Gilbert are trying to take extra care of Poppy because she needs to lose a lot of weight.

Fat Cat Poppy

My goodness have you heard about Poppies big tummy? Well she's definitely got to lose some weight don't you think? Gosh Poppy who's been feeding you? OK if you've seen Poppy tell her she's the prettiest cat you cat you've ever seen, also don't tell her what I said we don't want to upset her. It's just between you and me and don't dare feed her OK. She's going to have a hard time digesting - you know what I mean.

Toby The School Cat

We have a new School cat called Toby. Poppy went to Animates petshop with Mrs Compston and chose him.
Toby has been lazing around on the chairs and cushions alot. People have been throwing paper balls at him, for him to play with. People have been annoying him, by giving him too much attention. He has been hiding in the library alot this week. Toby has scratched more than four people.

Kittens don't need a bath!

Kittens don't need a bath. They can clean themselves and clean each other!

Details

Our kittens were born in Botany, on the 1st of September (so this is their birthday). They are sisters, and were part of a litter of three kittens. They are now ten weeks old. You may think that our tabby kittens look the same, but one is actually a little smaller than the other, and a little more timid as well.

Miss Capstick took them to the vet yesterday so that they could have some injections and medicine to make sure they are healthy.

The rumours are true - we have kittens!!!

The new school kittens are getting to know their new home, in Mrs Compston's office.
Their favourite toy this morning is a little plastic ball. Do you think one kitten is trying to be the boss?

The kittens are hungry after all their playing. They have a bowl for dry kitten biscuits as well a bowl for fresh water.

Is it a school or a zoo?!?!?!

Mrs Compston's office is the home for two new additions to the Papatoetoe East pet collection.
Can you spot the new pets?

First there was PEANUT the rabbit.

Then came STU the rabbit, followed by CHESTER the guinea pig.
Next we met PEPPER the guinea pig.

And now we have two gorgeous kittens who are finding their way around their new home and quietly getting to know us all. Watch this space for more details.

School Council meets Leigh from Animates pet shop

Today our leaders met with Leigh from "Animates" - the new pet shop at the Supercentre in Manukau. She works there and knows lots about cats. The leaders asked her questions about how to look after our school cats. Leigh gave us some cool cat presents!! Two collars with gold tags, a ten dollar voucher to spend at the shop, and some cat toys.

School cats

There is a rumour going around that we are getting cats!!! A little bird may have mentioned that the School Leaders visited the SPCA last week to check out puddy dats. Ask Mrs Compston about it - we're sure she knows more than she's letting on!!
